Hi Frank- Very nice portrait of a great bird. I like the BG but would tone down the dark green splodge upper right. There is good detail in the feathers but I think your gear is capable of more. Is is a significant crop? I see some noise in the BG which could be easily removed.

Wonderful portrait Frank. I'd agree with John about toning down the darker green patch a bit if possible. Lots of great detail in the eye.

I like the sharpness of the eye, beak and being able to see the fine feather detail.

    The repost looks good Frank.
I think that if you had been at f 8.0 or 9.0 it would have made the image better with better IQ. I find that with the teleconverter on, the nicest sharpest images are at f 8.0 or 9.0.
    The eye looks great.
I might take a sliver off the right.

Lovely pose for a portrait shot. I was fine with bg in the opening post but must admit repost looks better. About the IQ, I just wonder if feather detail is just a bit oversharpened. It will be interesting to hear what others may say.

Lovely portrait, Frank. Agree that a little more DOF would have improved the image. It's usually best to photograph at one stop under wide open when using a teleconverter. So that would put you at F8 with a 500 and 1.4 and F11 with a 2xTC, at least this helps to give you a gauge. Your BG is lovely in both original and RP. I would personally take some off of the right and the bottom.

Hi Frank, love the light in this, and what a lovely eye. Repost has turned out well. I would just take a touch off the bottom.

I exchanged the dark Flecken only in photoshop with the area paintbrush.
