I just today installed CS6 on a brand new HP (8gb- 1.5tb) When I open an image in photoshop there is a checkerboard pattern like a transparent layer around the image. When I try to work on the image with any tool the image flashes on and off. Anyone have any idea what could be happening?
Thanks Sid. I have already been there and figured out the problem. I just waited to see how long it would be before anyone responded. I know that there are some very computer savvy people on this site and figured I would get some ideas. 93 views and one response. I appreciate your taking the time to respond Sid.
Hi Jack, glad you figured out the problem.
I don't know how many people have pulled the trigger on Windows 8 yet. I bought Win 8 a while ago but am still on the fence about installing it :)
Also, this is apparently an issue on an AMD GPU only. So it's possible that not too many people have come across this issue.
In my case, I typically go straight to the avian forum and check the other areas a lot less frequently. So my participation is admittedly poor here.
With Roger having unfortunately resigned (I believe), I guess it is slower than usual.
With Don's appointment as the new mod, things will likely pick back up soon ...
Thanks again Sid. This computer has AMD Radeon HD 75600 graphics installed. This graphics card obviously does not have enough memory for Photoshop's default setting. IF anyone runs across this problem this is what I did. In photoshop click Edit-preferences-performance. In the bottom right of that window is a checked box- Use Graphics Processor. Click advance settings and in that popup click the arrow beside Drawing Mode. In that drop down will be Basic, Normal, Advanced. Click basic and photoshop will run smoothly. I understand that there are some plug-ins that might not work at this setting. The other alternative is to upgrade the graphics card.
