    The adult just buzzed this juvie. He quickly moved on without a fight ensuing.
    Full frame but cropped to vertical from a horizontal.
    I wish the juvies head was better defined but this is always an issue because of their coloring. The head fades into the neck. I tried many ways to bring the detail out in the head but wasn't happy with anything so left it as is. Any suggestions?

    Terrific action captured, Gail. I agree about the juvie's head, but don't know what can be done about it. Is the adult's nictitating membrane closed? It seems that maybe a little eye doctoring might help him out.

    Great action image Gail! I like the outstretched talons, IQ and composition. Nothing you can do with the juvies head but the image is still a beauty.

    very cool interaction here, I agree with your self critique that wished juvi's head was better defined.

    Great action shot, Gail. Well done. The vertical format works nicely too. Sorry I can't help you with the juvie. Sure hoping someone with some photoshop skills will chime in though.

    Gail;

    Great interaction. If two adults, where the heads were distinct , would be great, as the poses and comp works well.

    I did a little tinkering on the juvis head, and wasn't convinced either that bringing it up could be done in a natural looking way.

    Cheers

    Hi Gail, very well timed to capture this mid air interaction, and there is a huge difference in colours between juvie and adulthood. ( I dont see them, so thus Im amazed at the difference ) Well exposed on the wings of the adult, both sharp, and good DOF too. How are those talons of the adult facing upwards, ready for any confrontation.

    Congrats on catching some great action with excellent detail and perfect exposure!

    Juvie's head position is a disappointment but that's what keeps us going back for more ....

    This is an image to be proud of, Gail. You did a great job capturing the action and getting them both sharp. The action here is palpable.

    Fantastic action shot, Gail. It is nice that a young and a fully mature bird were framed while having a disagreement.

    Cool behavioral action captured and getting them both sharp and fully in the frame. It would be much improved if I could make out the youngsters eye.
