I had a great time shooting these fast flying little Gulls a few months back. They zipped around a pond everyday feeding on flying insects for about two weeks, then all in a day, they were gone. l like this side profile with a BG other than sky or water. Hope you like it.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. Appreciated.

Wonderful wing/tail form captured David and no blown whites, great eye contact and the " earthy " colored backdrop sets it off wonderfully....great bit of eye candy. I think I can see the start of some halo appearing here and there, expectable with such contrasting colors I guess...could also work just as nicely in a vertical crop, but I expect you already thought of that

Thanks for the comment Phil and you are right about the vertical. I scratched my head wondering which one looked better so I opted for the portrait because it showed more of the nice BG. Im posting the vertical too. What do you like better.
    Thanks in advance

excellent flight pose and a nice BG. sharpening halos taken care of in the repost, I would reduce the yellow cast on the gull as well. I like the vert better

    These shots are superb.
The light and the BG are so beautiful.
IQ is outstanding as well. The whites are perfect.
Absolutely no nits and I like both comps equally. It would just depend on the wall space I wanted to hang it on!

Great flight position, and lovely light. Great detail. Nice to catch him against such a good BG. I'd be happy with either comp, but personally lean toward the horizontal which gives him some flying room.

Lovely pose, exposure and bg. Very well done and either comp. works although I too prefer the more room for the gull.

Vertical works very well, I could just see the subject a tad lower in the frame in that one though. Great light and BG.

I am not reading the comments but couldn't help notice the repost, whilst both are very good I would favour the portrait as opposed landscape version. Is it me or is there a yellow cast - not very pronounced but I think it is there. I think the exposure is good but I would check out if it looked better with the highest highlights brought down a peg or two.

I like the landscape image first posted, looks more wonderful, gives the bird space to fly into
the details captured on white is simply amazing, very beautifully captured
The BG compliments very nicely to the subject
Is the yellowish on the bird a cast or is it the warm light, in India evening light really makes the whites get to yellow and i never think its a cast
Wonderful image David, very nicely done

Thanks everyone for the comments. Yes there is a yellow cast to this but as Vishal mentioned, in the last light out here in the desert, the Gulls and Terns get this subtle yellow/orange glow to them that I personally like and dont remove. I guess its personal preference. Thanks again.

David, great shot of a common bird! Perfect exposure, sweet light, and nice BG. Love the vert better. Well done with the RP.

Hi David, lovely banking pose showing off the full wingspan, and both comps work for me. I do like the colours in the BG, and agree, toning down the yellows on the gull will work. Nothing like tweaking ones image for a better result.
