Northern Harrier juvenile (1st year I think), from the Great Swamp NWR in January. Large crop, but there was something I liked about the flow of this one, and the fluffy look to the breast feathers that reminded me of a Golden Retriever puppy. C&C appreciated.
Great shot Bill I really like it a lot but for me there is a spot in the center of the bird between the wings where there are a couple of white feathers that maybe I would have toned down just a bit but others may think it is ok.
Very nice capture Bill. I like the wing flared and the head turn even though its eye is in the shade. The perch, comp, BG, exposure and details are very appealing. Well rounded shot. I shoot allot of Harriers but cant seem to find one sitting, and if I do, its on the ground. Well done.
Hi Bill, lovely soft light, and I like the look back pose, together with the wind swept wings and breast. Im fine with the white feathers that David Smith mentioned, and if anything, I would just take a bit off the left. Love the smooth BG.
Bill, what a shot. loved all the lines flowing towards the bird. Pose, details, exposure, BG....everything works for me. And it does not look like a big crop at all....and it does not look like an ISO 1000 image. Well done on all counts.
I really like everything it is so natural looking, the bird looks totally relaxed, the exposure the pose and detail are excellent.
It isn't really doing any harm but I don't think the larger branch at the bottom helps, I would be reluctant to clone it but once done I think the image would look a little better, I think my eye would remain on the bird and not wander downwards.
I like this one a lot, I am a big sucker for steel gray BGs. I wouldn't tone down the whites in the middle of the bird as this is a key characteristic of Harriers (the white rump patch).
