Nice HA and wonderful feather detail along the back and wings, if this were mine i would have cropped this as a vertical to eliminate as much of the branches as possible as presented I feel they compete with the subject for the viewers attention

Hi Joe, excellent exposure on this fellow, the iridescence has shown up very well. Love the hint of clouds in the BG too. A good point from Don to go vertical.

Wonderful sharpness and detail. Although the perch is very interesting and different, I'd also crop from the left, to more of a square. Doubt you could get a vertical out of it.

The bird is facing left but not moving that way, so it's a static portrait and no huge need to leave room to move into. But you certainly wouldn't want to crowd the beak to the left edge by trying to force a vertical format.

I am going to be the odd man out here...I actually like the perch and your composition. I think it has a lot of character and adds to the shot. Good call on the f-stop. You nailed the head position. Loved the dark velvety blacks.

I am with KD. I like the perch and the horizontal presentation works for me. You have awesome details in your blacks and I think you did well with the angle you were dealing with.

Very nicely exposed, impressive detail showing through and I rather like the perch as I find it interesting but not really overpowering the bird itself. Love the catch light glint in the eye and sheen on the plumage
