I was sort of inspired to photo this common bird after watching the Nature television documentary
on them last week.
The most intelligent creature next to primates according to the documentary.
I am hoping that by photographing one and posting it, they will spread the word and stop roosting
on the trees over my driveway.
I crawled through deep grass to get this close up, almost full frame.
Lovely exposure on the Blacks here
the OOF vegetation takes the focus off the bird somewhat, however i suppose getting it at eyelevel there was not much of a option left
nicely done
OK, a darn pity about the oof grass, but brilliant exposure on the blacks and I love his/her pose, very distinguished looking......how about cropping to just below the tip of the tallest bit of grass and a small bit of clone work on the bit left to make it perfect as below ?
Nice detail in the blacks and nice pose. Wondering how much of crop this is? If it can take it I am thinking maybe a crop at mid neck level since most of the focus is above that level anyway...Re-post looks better
Hello Dan, I think you have a nice crow picture here and I would certainly leave it as-is if I were you. The well-placed blades of grass add an element to this that is both realistic and otherworldly, if you know what I mean? The crop, as seen in panel #6, is too run-of-the-mill for my tastes. Kudos also on the fine stalking work...
Sure is a overlooked subject and I love the exposure on this one. Not that easy, requires the right light and the right pose. I like the repost as a tight portrait. Well done
Hi Dan, incredible detail and exposure on the fellow, and he ceratainly pops against the lighter BG. Even before seeing Phil's repost, I had the same thoughts.
I like the OP best, I like the sense of him standing in the grass, and how everything fades to be out of focus but that clever face. I think it's more engaging and unique.
