Jim:
The talons here are great. Although not a fan of the post, the effect it has on the splaying of the talons is neat!
Sharp and well exposed.
Rather unusual background, almost too many layers for my taste, but certainly different.
Cheers
Randy
A pretty unique capture I think, I never see them roosting on posts where I live so
I don't mind the perch.
Very nice details, I like the BG.

Of course this is technically wonderful and I find there to be a comical element to it. What a treat to view.
Excellent IQ, great sharpness and dof. The bg is very unusual but neat. He looks bored with you.
The bg is a combination of water and aquatic vegetation near the shoreline of a lake. I purposely used this angle to get the striped effect in the bg.

Artie,
This is an older image that I re-processed recently. It is the same Owl that you used to photograph with me by Lake Kissimmee. I used to call this Owl with a recording, but after a while he would just come out when he saw my truck without even being called. I can't remember if I called him or not when this photo was made, but it is more likely than not that I did.

A very serious looking owl. BG works for me. Lovely colors and details and whites look great.
That serious look on the face reminds me of one of my professors in the college. Having said that I would prefer seeing this guy than the prior!! Very neat shot, I am fine with the perch, the eye contact is very good and so are the details. I am my self a big fan of un-uniform backgrounds and this really works for me !! Tfs
Lovely image, the details on the owl are simply wonderful,
The impressive BG works wonderful to enhance the over all effect
i simply love the way the Owl looks directly, and those amazing eyes are highlight to me

Love the down-the-barrel stare. The light is fantastic and that background is off the charts.

JIm, am glad you went back to this one and shared it here. What a shot. That BG makes all the difference. the eyes, the pose, the colors...superb in every way. don't mind the perch at all.
Jim, top to bottom gets two thumbs up. Fine job.
This is terrific JIm.
I love the light and the multilayered BG and the splayed feet.
No nits from me!
Gail
Beautiful portrait, great details and eye contact.
