    Default Hoopoe in the grass

Unusually close for one on the ground and hard to get ground shots as they fly up normally.
Taken from my car as I went to the shops. Grass removed from across and around bill.
converted in DPP and tinkered with in CS6. I like the detail, particularly in the crest. Grass is always messy.

    Richard,

Very nice pp work around the bill - I wouldn't have been able to tell.

I agree with your assessment of the grass always seeming messy, and it's a bit too busy for me here. Not much you can do, and you definitely got a keeper from the situation.

Hi Richard, we have Hoopoe's in our garden, but I havent managed to get a shot in. Good pp work around the bill, and not much anyone can do where they decide to perch. The light looks a bit harsh.

A little busy for me, but a great species.

Good job on the cloning, unusual looking bird, yes to messy surrounds but entirely natural
