    Default La Jolla Pelican

Took a drive to La Jolla in San Diego, California on New years day. This spot is popular for Brown Pelicans in breeding plumage during the month of January. We were fortunate and got some nice portrait and flight shots in the few hours of nice light in the morning.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. Appreciated

Beautiful in flight pose. Nice BG. Beautiful colors on his head. I think it is getting a little dark under the wings but an easy fix if you choose to do so.

David, good Pelican flight shot in good light. The breeding plumage is great.

    David,

Nice capture in some great light. The colors really pop in this one. The detail is there, too.

I think a better HA couldn't have hurt, but still like this shot very much.

Hi David, looks like you used your opportunity well on new year's day. I really like the detail and colours your pelicans have, - better than our drab white pelicans. Lovely light, and I do like the colour around the head and bill. Nicely separated from the water BG too. I would add a bit more space on the right.

Certainly a lot different than the Pelicans we have here. great detail in the markings showing through, backdrop looks good as well, it has the color of Denim Jeans. I 'd suggest a bit more canvas on the right
