CM, I think this is a female House Finch.

Maybe, but it was feeding with a group of this bird.

This looks like a female House Sparrow. Not uncommon for the two species to be together.

    Thanks Dan and Roy

As I said at first I had no idea. I have seen many house finches, but this one looks too round & short tail to be a house finch to me.

Thanks again, I will label it as a house finch.

CM, the House Finch may be young which is why it doesn't look quite right to you. The plumage looks very fresh, especially when you look at the nice buffy tips that makes its wings bars, and this would be correct for a young bird in June. Adults shouldn't be that fresh.

If you have a closer shot of the House Finch, look at the "gape" which is the corner of the mouth inside of the base of the bill. Young birds often show a more colorful gape. For any example, look at the gape on your second shot. It's very yellowish indicating a young House Sparrow.
