I have to agree with Hazel. The image does nothing for me because it just looks blurry. Was this in-camera or did you apply a filter?

I think the makers intention was for the image to be soft. I like the fact the flower is on a diagonal but I would have preferred the hot areas toned down. I also feel the image would be improved without the noticeable artifacts in the backround.

Hi Grahame - I like your idea, and as Dave noted, the fact that the flower is on a diagonal. There are a several of different directions you could go with this. It just needs a bit more tweaking, i think, to live up to its potential

Here's one idea. I darkened the background, added a touch of CS6 oil paint and fract on a low opacity layer, then sharpened slightly and desaturated just a bit.

A nice PP effect for a soft look is Nik CEP Glamour Glow, and you can add Detail Extractor if too much detail is lost.

Hi, Grahame, I think this is a perfect example of the benefits of posting in OOTB! Two (or ten) heads are often better than one. I think your original composition and idea are good ones and Maureen's rework turns it into something special and probably more like your vision. I also like Diane's idea.
