This is beautiful, super pose, the whites look great, the yellows of the face and feet just pop! I like the reflection of the water on the bird. Nicely done, awesome PP work as well Artie (From what I saw on your blog)

Hi Artie, the image quality here is excellent. Sharp, exposure spot on, background, reflection and tiny ripples behind him are the items I like. Nice to see the before and after in your blog.

That's one super pose, great exposure and sharpness. I might have considered moving him further to the left, at the expense of the ripples; but I can see why you left the ripples in place.

Great timing Arthur and those feet are tack sharp, nice exposure on the whites....it's the feet that really grabs ones attention, be a great shot in and arty {=pardon the pun } way just to crop the image to have the feet and reflection showing.

Hey Artie - the feet make this shot a winner for me. Something about them that I can't put my finger on right now! Excellent PP work and walk-thru on your blog as per usual.

I love the feet and the ripples. Did the bird touch down slightly or are those ripples made by the displaced wind.

Also there is lots of detail in the whites if you look closely and the contrast white/yellow on blue is always great.

As a novice, could you explain what you mean by: Evaluative metering at zero as framed: 1/2000 sec. at f/8 confirmed via histogram check.

I am starting to get to grips with taking reading off the sky plus one stop etc for birds in flight, so why did you decide to go for zero on this one?
