Default Fly With Me !! River Terns

    River Terns

7D, 1/5000, 5.6, 420mm, -0.3, ISO 200. The light was extremely harsh which is why I thought it would be a good idea to convert it into bnw. Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Definitely tough when you have harsh light. I like the idea and composition and nice low shooting angle. Both terns also seem to be in same plane of focus.
Overall though the photo is just too dark for my liking. Perhaps open up the midtones??

    Hi,

Looks like it's correctly exposed for the white tail, but that makes the rest of the image way too dark. I think that with that harsh light the dynamic range is likely too high for much useful recovery, but it would be worth experimenting with the tone curve or highlight/ shadows.

Agree it's a little too dark for my tastes, maybe play around a little more with B&W adjustments
