    I think she likes me.

    Female Bufflehead.
I was very close, this is 80% full frame, thus the lack of DOF, but I thought it worked anyway.

Sweet head turn, and nice feather detail on the head.

I like the girls better than the boys. They are such a lovely fluffy chocolate brown and do sweet.
Excellent IQ and detail on the head.
I am OK with the DOF,
    Gail

Lovely, Dan. I think the head being the only thing in focus works here, as the head seems to be the only part of the body in that sweet light, and so both elements make it a sweet portrait. I just wish the tip of the bill were sharp. Beautiful detail and really nice mood to this. Really like the blue of that water.

A very cool shot. Well done and good for you. Nice low shooting angle and and you did a great job with the light. The head really pops out of the bg and fg for that matter.

She is sooo pretty. Love the head turn. Light quality is deluxe. Nice commited low shooting angle.
What is focused is wonderfully sharp and of course critical to the success of the image. I also wish
the entire bill was sharp. Regardless, I think the image works well.

I think it works because the head is tack sharp and has nice detail. Water looks great. Very nice job on this one.

    Wonderful shot Dan.
I really like the head turn she gave you.
Details on the head are superb and I love the lighting.
More dof would have been nice but the excellent head detail makes up for it.
    Well done.

Dan, I do think she likes you. She has that sweet look in the eye.
I agree with Melissa, if the tip of the bill was also sharp, it would have added just that bit more.
A sweet image none the less......

A very pleasing image witih lovely light and colors. Love the water here. Agree that the head is all that has to be sharp and with that look back pose, this image works very nicely.
