This image was captured at a feeder in Northern CA last week. I cropped about 30% from the right, did a little bill cleanup and removed the feeder. The light is a little harsh. PP in NX2, ACR and CS5. C&C welcome.

Hi Dan, I like the angled pose, and mixture of colours on the Grosbeak. The varied BG looks good, and if anything, I would tone down the part of the perch the Grosbeak is perched on.

Lucky you to get such a clean view and portrait of this beauty, Dan. Super pose and head angle and I really like the background. I would try to tone down the perch as Stuart suggests.

    Beautiful bird and nice BG.
I think had you shot manual and not auto iso, you would not have overexposed the perch.

Thanks all for the comments. Dan, you may be right, But it turns out that in my attempt to preserve the bright yellows, I actually under exposed the image and then over cooked the branch in PP. That's what I get for doing the work on my laptop! Here's a redo with the branch toned down.

Hi Dan Nice pose and excellent colours.I suggest using shadows/Highlight.To control the light on the bird's beak.
