This image is also from Algonquin, just a few days ago.
I find the pose unusual and interesting.
    Thanks for looking.

Nice pose and bird, Karl! The reds might be a little hot. I haven't seen many of these guys but I don't remember any being this red. Nice!

Hi Karl, good low angle of capture, and I like the 'elongated' pose. The food from the beak adds interest. I havent checked the reds, but they 'look' fine from here. They certainly stand out against the winter BG.

Amazing Colors Karl, I like the alert pose, the food in the beak and vertical composition. Super shot!

Agree it's an interesting posture and it shows the rather nice breast patterns nicely. The feet almost look like he is standing in mist rather than snow. To be honest I'm not so sure about the messy food in the beak though

    Karl:

Very seasonal image, love the snow in the air, snow swirling around the feet/legs, upright pose, the darker area of the background complimenting the colors of the bird. Soft shadows.

    Very nice!

Thanks Phil. These guys are messy eaters all right. However, this individual has snow on its beak and not food if I'm correct.

Very nice composition and i love the stretched pose.
I have never seen a pine grosbeak that was this red and trust you that the reds are as bright as shown.
I like the hazy look of the snow at the feet.
    Very nice

Wow, such a wonderful shot of color, I needed this. I love his alert stretched up pose, the red against the white, the super detail in the feathers. Beautiful image, Karl.

Nice pose in the snow, Karl, it looks like it could use just a bit more sharpening.

That is a lovely splash of color. Both the snow and pose look interesting. This pose works well with the light angle as well.

I really enjoy this composition Karl. Nice elongated alert/curious pose on this handsome male. The colors might just be a little jacked up
due to the low angled light...gorgeous male regardless. Did you do any post processing blurring on the foreground?

Excellent pose, nice details, and great comp.
This bird really pops against the background.

Awesome Karl - spectacular bird and the snow adds another dimension. Possibly a touch more room all around if you have it?
    Cheers, Greg

Dan, this a beauty of an image. I have never seen this bird so I can't comment about the color. But, I can say, I love the pose and
the way the red contrasts with the BG......
