    Default Short Eared Owl

I found this guy back in December.
There was even 4 I spotted in the same area during my 2 weeks observation.

Really liked the mood and composition of this shot. Straight from camera with no edits besides a slight crop. Would love to hear some opinions.

    welcome to BPN.

the owl is gorgeous, the snow on the perch adds interest but at the same time perch is a bit too big and distracting. I would crop it tighter. as posted, owl is a bit soft I would sharpen him a bit more. TFS

    Mitchell:

A big welcome to BPN. A great place to learn and grow as a nature photographer!

Good points from Arash. The perch is a bit overpowering, esp. because of the bright snow. Would try some tighter crops as suggested to maintain the feel, but give the owl more impact.

    The background is very nice.

+1 to more sharpening for web presentation.

    Cheers

Welcome to this fantastic forum. Many good suggestions are given above from the masters. Really nice bird and sweet BG and I like the snowy perch, though it is big and covering a big part of the bird. A tighter crop would improve the image fore sure.

Looking forward to see more images from you.

I agree with the previous critiques, and I also want to add that the light is of a very nice quality. Welcome to BPN.... :-)
