I love the "full" look this guy / gal gave here. The thick wingspread and full tail spread is just about perfect!

Canon 7D + 100-400L @200mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/3200s., f/8, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small rotation and crop (just about FF), a couple of imperfections" in the BG cloned and patched out. Baited.

Great composition, particularly in regards to the background. I also like the "full" look of the ggo's pose and excellent
condition of the plumage. The bounce light from the snow is so great!

Another amazing shot, Daniel. This is the year of the GGOW for you guys, lucky to be so close.
The six hour drive one way holds me back to be honest. (Done it a few years ago, coming back in snow storm.)

Great display of every feather. Techs look great as usual and I like the trees and snow in the BG. Very cool.

Yet another wonderful GGOW image to make us all jealous. Terrific detail in this one, as in the others. The BG makes this one unique.

I guess it has to be the same in Ottawa, but in Quebec, I've been told that mentions of the GGOW (and also NHOW actually) are at a peak that was not seen in the last 20 years. Usually it goes up and down on about a 4-year cycle, but this is a record year.

Who knows when such an opportunity may come around again.

    Daniel:

Those are wings are meant for floating in silently and pouncing on prey, and you have shown their structure so well. A beauty.

    Cheers
