    Default Bosque painting

I'll start the new theme out this week with an image from the Bosque. I used 2 Shadowhouse textures, one with an Overlay blend and the other with a Soft Light Blend. Then added a canvas texture from CS5. It reminded me of the work of some of the early American landscape painters.

Lovely! And very nice how some of the geese are lower, against the hills, and some against the sky.

However, the top edge of the grass is a virtual horizon, and should be leveled. Even if the camera was level and the ground sloped, the eye sees it as a mistake. The "real" horizon of the top of the hills has leeway to be believable even with that slight rotation, and it doesn't look like that rotation would throw off the horizontal lines in the clouds.

Hi, Diane, thanks for commenting. The grass seems to look less level on the thumbnail than it does full frame. I kind of liked the fact that it was sloping like the trajectory of the geese. I'll do a rotation and repost to see what everyone thinks

Here's a rotated version per Diane's suggestion. Thanks, Diane

Really pretty Cheryl, I'm a fan of these Bosque portraits and this one is quite nice. The color palette works perfectly with the scene and it does indeed look like a painting from that era. If I were going to print this one, I would probably clone out the man-made bits at the bottom of the frame. I think the rotation worked well, even though I know that the grass really is sloping. Well done!

Gorgeous. Love the glow. I think I prefer the rotated image, but I'd complete the rotation to get the grass completely horizontal. Your texture work brought out the glowing light.

A lovely image and processing as always Cheryl. I'm undecided on the rotation thoughts. I like both versions and would happily hang either one. Such a warm and peaceful feel.
