I went to the pond the other day and found hundreds of Black-bellied Whistling ducks. It's hard to get one isolated. This was as close as I got, and still had to clone out the foot of one higher up on the branch. While I was at it, I went ahead and cloned out the rest of the branch running up to the right corner of the frame. I left it as it was in one version, but liked the cloned out version better, since it's not a pretty branch and to my eye, was distracting. Taken in portrait mode with a Nikon D7000/500mm f/4-P @ 1/320, f/8, ISO 250 on tripod/gimbal head. As always, comments, suggestions, etc. are very welcome.
Lovely capture... great cloning work! Really like the sweet head position and subtle eye-catch. The pink you have of both the feet and the bill balance the image really well. I'm good with the framing.
Great feet, love the way they wrap the perch. Perch has a funky charm. There are a couple little cloning defects at the very top of the frame on right side.
I would consider just a touch more sharpening on the head.
Hi Jeannean. Good job with what used to be called a Mexican Tree Duck. Feather detail and composition excellent. The image seems desaturated a bit on my monitor, and I'd crank up the saturation. What were the lighting conditions? Bill

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time. Bill, it was a party cloudy day and the ducks were hanging out on the edge of the water next to a creek under some sparse mesquite trees. I was wondering about the saturation. I will play with that a bit selectively, since parts of the duck look correct, but some parts seem a bit washed out.
Great job on this one Jeannean! Super job on the exposure, color, and pose. Agree with comments regarding saturation and sharpness, but overall a very strong image. Good job!

The detail in the head looks better in the repost. I really like the curving of the neck. I guess he has to keep his head back otherwise he'll fall off.
It may be my monitors, but I'm not able to see a difference in saturation between the posts.
