We have a lot of these at the feeders close to the kitchen window these days, so they provide a good opportunity to practice different settings etc. I'm still working on my settings and technique with the Oly OM-D and Panny 100-300 lens, trying to see if I can make images as good as those with the Nikon D7000 and 300 AF-S with !.7x TC. I took this one through a closed window, and used auto-ISO, which, because I chose a high shutter speed, came up as 4000! Shot in Raw, then converted in LR. Mild crop, selective sharpening on the bird, and blur and NR on the background, then another round of overall NR..

OM-D, Panasonic 100-300 at 136mm., 1/800, f/7/1, ISO 4000(!). I didn't think it was too bad considering. All comments and learning points appreciated.

    Thanks, Richard

You sure got some pretty nice details considering the high ISO. Gotta love the stance of the bird and that pose is terrific. Might give it a tad more room on top if you have it. Would sharpen the face just a tad more.

Nice portrait Richard. Love the splayed stance and lookback. I would also remove the noise to the right of the bird.

Great to have these during the winter!
