We have been having some great sunrises here of late so decided to head to Lake Weeroona, this morning around 6:30am to see what I could get before work.
Name:Pacific Black Duck (Anas superciliosa)
Location:Bendigo, Lake Weeroona, VIC 12/02/2013
Gear: Pentax K-30 and Sigma 150-500mm @ F6.3 1/500 ISO500, 500mm Tripod.
PP:ACR/CS5, shadows, Levels, selective colour, resize and sharpen for web FF.
Hi Charlie,
I can see why you headed out to get this beautiful light.A very pretty, restful shot.
I really like the pose and the head is parallel to the sensor.
I would rotate the image CCW ever so slightly and do some NR to the BG above the duck.
I would sharpen the eye area ever so slightly as well.
I never noticed the little bit of green in the feathers before.

Charlie:
Beautiful image of Black duck in beautiful Lights.Love the pose with head turn, colors, nice water rings around duck and composition.
Rest is mentioned by Gail.
My first thought was that the image needed CCW rotation so I am glad it has been mentioned. Beautiful duck with a striking face. The parallel preening pose is ideal, and the warm light is sweet. I realize it may not have been possible, but a lower angle would have put this over the top.
