Cheryl, lovely image. Is it a Sandill Crane chick? Sorry, I'm terrible with bird ID. Love the sharpness, details, and BG. I wish there was a catch light on the eye though, but overall well done!

Thanks Loi yes this is a sandhill crane chick. The eyes on these little ones are soo dark and not easy to get just right. I too wish for a larger catchlight but there is a teeny one there.

Beautiful shot and colour. The exposure and framing are very good. The pose really fits the title. I'm actually okay with the eye, but yeah, a larger catchlight would be nice. Also, not sure if it's artifacts or just part of the fur/feather near the tail of this gorgeous chick.

    Cheryl,

I'm usually not a fan of chopped off parts, but I think this image is wonderful. With baby birds I find that there is a tough balance between sharpening and making sure you keep the "soft" look of the feathers. In my opinion, you nailed this!

The green in the bg gives a bit of separation, well done!

I think the crop works, the head steals the show. BG is very complimentary.

How cute, and I think you composed this just right. Very beautful BG. Nice details on the fluff-ball! I'd consider lightening the bit of reflection on the eye, at least for web posting.

Cuteness: Beyond 100%! Curious look: Priceless! Little wing-nubs and body... perfect. With her/him kind of looking "down", I think the limited eye catch works well. Great comp.

    sweet little chick.
I like the cocked head and the comp is perfect.
I might darken the pupil or lighten the iris just a little bit.
you have done a great job in keeping this litlle guy sharp yet fluffy.
    a sweet image,
