Well, not technically my 1000th post (I saw some neat images this morning that I wanted to comment on), but just past it. I think this hoodie image is fitting for this post, as it shows how much one can learn in a short period of time here on BPN. Within one week I got a ton of useful info from you guys on exposing, composing, editing, etc for a hoodie. I've gone a couple of times to the local pond, each time implementing what I learned. I have to say that this is my favorite hoodie shot that I have taken to date, and I hope I can surpass it this afternoon when I make another trip out there.
For this image, I like the pose and the detail in the breast feathers. I'm not a fan of the feathers in the hood, so I may go back and re-process. There was some clean-up in the background.
And here is the HD version (1080 on the vertical).
Hi Miguel, congrats on your 1st milestone of 1000 posts, and Im sure you will go on to many more. Thank you for your valued participation on the site. Ive been following your series of the hoodies, and I can see why this is your favourite - mine too. I dont know why you arent liking the feathers on the hood, as from my side there is oodles of detail there. You have exposed this very well, sharp, and although placed well in the frame, I would maybe add a touch more to the right. You are a quick learner.
Love the shot! Looks good on my monitor. I don't find it too top-heavy, although it's a bit yellowish-greenish cast may be perhaps the lighting and the environment?
Your best so far of this gorgeous species. Love the behavior and the details and exposure. You do have a cast that needs to be remedied however but a special image indeed.
Thanks for the comments guys! Another opportunity to learn! How do I go about removing the cast? What I did to try to remove any cast was take a look at the RGB values in the black areas. I then tried to neutralize them using the hue/saturation by selectively unsaturating certain colors. Any other ideas that are proven?
Make a "Color Balance" layer in PS. You will see 3 sliders there. Since you have a green cast, you want to pull the slider away from the greens and toward the magenta. I think -10 works well for this image.
Wow, Miguel what a striking image to celebrate your 1000th posting. The pose is a dream come true, the details are amazing in both, dark and white and the water colour is cool. I just looked at mine and realized that I'm at 2000. I'll celebrate tomorrow if I find a nice picture.

Karl, I think you hit 2000 a while back :) You're at 3200 now!
Congrats on 1K!! Hope for many more!! Beautiful subject and I too think this is your strongest of this species yet. Looks like a pre-flap pose? I like the comp as is, and just love the eye...
A big congrats Miguel.
You have really improved since your first post and it a pleasure having you as a BPN colleague.
This is my favorite of your merganser shot.
I love the pose and the IQ is excellent.
I see a yellow or green cast to the image-not sure which. Easy fix anyway.
Again congrats,
Gail
