    Tripod in a canoe, ISO 400 +0.3 1/2000 sec f5, crop for composition, NR to background, USM mask for contrast to head of darter.

    nice pose, good exposure. looks like the focus was on the right bird. I wish they were looking at each other which would make the interaction stronger

    Thanks Arash I agree entirely, in fact I produced an image exactly as you suggested but the problem is the bird on the left is just a smidgen out of focus and consequently it looked as though I did rearrange it!

    maybe combine to two frames and make a nice composite?

    Interesting seeing the 2 of them in the frame. Terrific light and BG. Your right bird is so nice and full of details. Not a bad idea to try a composite for fun.

    Magnificent image of two of them together.
    I like the golden colors on darter and red eye of the cormorant.Nice poses,BG and composition.
