    Default Spring Gobbler Season

On a Photo Safari in Rocky Mtn Nat Park we spotted a flock of turkeys. This tom turned for a second and put on a show for us.

I went for a semi pano crop, but I kept the tree on the right as the branches to the left of it were really distracting as a border.

D200, 300mm f5.6, ISO 500, Handheld, cloned out some grass across the breast.

Great job on the comp, and good of you in recognizing the need to keep the tree at right - it also anchors the image nicely. Good low angle, and the displaying pose is perfect. Maybe warming it up a bit, or adding a tiny bit of saturation could help liven it up. I might actually crop a bit at left to eliminate the space between tree and edge.

A walk in the woods. Sweet. Conjures up "wild habitat" at a glance. A striking image against the BG. If you could afford it I would try cropping slightly more off the left to see a differant balance. What was your shutter speed on this?

Sorry, missed the shutter speed, 1/160, every other shot was out of focus hand held. I did saturate the bird, but not the background. I may add more red and yellow to liven up the BG though.

I also played with the left side of the crop a bit, but with that tree on the left it looked odd to me being just half a tree trunk leaning over that much. Maybe just my point of view, but I didn't want to put him between two trees for the framing on each side.

    Thanks for the comments!

Very nice environmental, where the bird stands proud. Nice compo, with the right framing elements and space all around.

Gorgeous environmental image. I don't think I would take anything from the left, that space to the left of the tree there gives it a sense of scale. Great job with the low angle. I might just warm it up a little.
