Default Nor'Easter on the Outer Banks

I've been on the Outer Banks for all of this week. We were on Hatteras but left a few days ago. If we hadn't we would still be there. The Nor'Easter took out Hwy 12 (again). On the up side, the Nor'Easter has given us some gorgeous (destructive) surf.

Shutter speed was critical on this shot. Too slow and the sense of motion is too soft with a cottony look (I normally don't mind that). Too fast and there is no sense of motion.

Michael, this is really beautiful in black and white. Glad you got out in time.

Yes, ,my thoughts, too. The bw treatment makes it even more menacing.

Nicely done Michael. I like the sense of turbulence and power of the water. Good call on the shutter speed, it's just right for the look. Be safe out there!

Perfect exposure to capture the motion of the breaking waves. Nice composition and I like the drama of black and white.
