The primary contributor to this image was (obviously) Pixel Bender. NIK Viveza provided some additional structure and contrast, and NIK Color Efex provided the vignette.

Very nice use of Pixel Bender and lovely composition. I wish I could get that close to an eagle!

Dramatic image Mike! I love the saturated colors and the PB oil paint effect. Really nice work!

Lovely portrait, Mike. I might be tempted to take just a little off of the bottom. Is this a captive bird or were you lucky enough to get this close?

What a gorgeous Eagle! Perfect pose. Love your processing! Just the right amount. The vignette is perfect. I would not change a thing!

    Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for your comments. The eagle was a wild eagle. The image was taken on one of Artie's Alaska eagle IPT's about two years ago. We got lots of closeups out on the sandbars!

    Cheryl,

I guess "close" is a relative thing. This image is a crop from a horizontal, and is only 23% of the original image, which was captured with a 7D and a 500 mm lens! I agree with you that it would help to take some off the bottom. I'm going to crop tighter, maintaining the 8x10 aspect ratio, keeping everything at the top, but cropping some off the bottom. Thanks for mentioning it!

Hi, Mike, this being a wild bird makes the image even more spectacular. I can see why they are our National Bird.

Pixel bender doesn't always work on everthing but it sure did on this image, I agree a bit off the bottom would work...well done
