I prayed and prayed for a slight head turn but it wasn't to be, all C&C welcome.

Hi Jon, the extended neck has given us a great view of the shape of the 'hammer' head. Good exposure on the hammerkop for a setting of -.33 EC. Colours spot on, and your angle of capture from the boat has turned out well.

That's a lovely scene and setting you had in front of you. Nice colours, exposure, details. I agree with HA and fell your pain. It would have been nice had you been able to paddle your canoe more to the left to get the subject between the two open flowers. I also wish the stump in the BG was not there. Nice low angle and BG!

Nice angle from the canoe and I agree with your square crop. Agree with Dan's comment about the stump and placing the bird between the two flowers would have taken it to a level of perfection. Despite the lack of head turn this image shows the shape of the head.

A lovely image of a not often seen bird. As said already and you know, the head turn would have made it a real winner. Pity they don't have a reverse gear on canoes you would have got the lot, between the flowers and head angle. Looks like you are having a great trip.

Such a cool bird we don't get to see here often, and I love seeing an image of one that shows off the awesome head. Great low angle and I love the flowers. Overall, a very fine job.
