    Default Mallard Hen

Not much around at the moment and the local bay is now frozen over, so ducks were the menu of the day.
This was a close flyby, and I liked the feather detail.

I rather like the feather detail as well!
The IQ is stunning and I like the way the head parallels the wings and the peek-a-boo look.
    Great DOF.
    Lovely complementary BG.
Compwise- maybe a sliver more room below if she is landing,
    Gail

Beautifully done, Mike. A common subject rendered uncommon.

    Mike:

I love peekaboo poses, and can be a challenge to get them just right. Great techs, nice BG. She fits the frame shape well, but I would give her a sliver more room.

    Cheers

Love this flight pose where you can see the eye peeking and the wings are enveloping her. Great light and BG. Agree on a tad more room below if you have it.

Hi Mike, superb detail and sharpness all round, and just the the light in this. The BG complements the mallard nicely. I feel adding more space all round and placing her higher in the frame with the extra space will definately put this up a few notches. Still, very well captured.

Great pose with beautiful detail Mike. Only nit, which has nothing to do with you, is the broken blue secondary. Well done.

I like the warm tones here, great details, pose, BG. Apart from being cropped a bit tight the processing looks A-1 too.

Wonderfull shot. I ageree about the feather detail, nice and sharp, with just enough of the head to see the eye and bill.

Perfect pose and I like the tight comp here.
To me, it really puts the focus on the bit of head showing.
    Nice IQ and details.
