    Default GBH Returning to Mate

Great Blue Heron Returning To Mate by Phaeton Place, on Flickr

A great morning at Venice Rookery yesterday. Spent a lot of time on flight photography using my 300mm 2.8 II with 1.4 x extender. This one is one of my favorites. Lighting was behind me and both head angles appear to be good. The wing spread reminds me of an orchestra conductor. Not much PP required on this one. A slight crop in CS6, Nik Color Efex Pro, Dfine 2, and a little output sharpening. A few dust spots and done.

    Comments and critiques welcome.

Great composition and behavior. Love the wings on the left bird.

Nice shot! My first thought was "I know that place!" before I read the description. Love the wingspan on the left bird (hen?).
