    Default Stonechat - female

One of the very few times that I visited the nature reserve close to my house in the late afternoon - dont ask me why, but I always manage a few decent images in the late light. Most of the birds are pretty close to the side of the road, and driving up slowly and using the car as a hide works well. I decided to leave the OOF pieces of grasses as is.

Stuart, Nice pose, HA and BG. Exposure and details look great. I like the strong catch light. Well done

The light and HA are perfect.Love the leg position.
    Great colors in the BG.
I would remove the OOF grass that intersects with the tail. I also find the tail a bit grainy ? due to sharpening?

Nice image, the OOF grass in the BG works for me
Lovely details on the bird and a good catchlight, the position of the catchlight suggests you being in front of the bird which makes the tail the most away point in the image and hence may look a bit out of focus
this is more of a guess looking at the light
i like the way its presented

I would see this bird species posted by people from GB. I guess they hang out in your area this time of the year, Stuart.
    Nice pose, background and coposition.

Thanks Karl. These guys actually hang around all year, as they are a common resident.

Thank you everyone else for your feedback.

Stu, nice to see one of our birds on your patch! Lovely exposure and detail, I like the composition but i would also perhaps consider 3:4 vertical crop. The OOF grasses look fine to me, to my mind it helps retain credulity.
