    Default Long-eared Owl

A pair of these little owls showed up in Boundary Bay next to where people park their cars. They become active in the late afternoon and move between fence posts, trees and bushes on the side of the road. Luckily there was a ditch between them and the photogs so nobody complains how close one can get to these owls. They are completely at ease with all the cameras pointed at them.

    Hi Roy,
You are quite lucky to get them out in the open like that. One of the last times I was there we stumbled upon one in the hedgerow and could only get the face and chest through all of the leaves. Nice BG and focus. Hope to be going over there again in a couple of weeks. Get quite a bit of amusement from the little female short eared owl at the grounding station just down the road from the parking lot.

    Take care and good light,

    Steve

Hi Roy, Great comp, and I really like the attentive stare of the owl. Good DOF in the overall image, and you have brought out excellent detail on the owl too. Great BG .

Lovely owl, those eyes really stand out! Nice light and perch. I would try to reduce the noise on BG and warm the image a tad as it looks cool to my eye.
