Here's another image taken at the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire last weekend. They had a "Falconry" show and the handler had a very nice way with his birds. I used an Orton effect (it's a phase I'm in) and then Nik Silver Efex to convert to b&w.

Diagonals are generally good, but this one is exceptional because it's more than just a visual element. I really like what you've done using variations of the Orton effect with your landscapes. This image shows that it's a wonderful technique for portraits, as well. It's a beautiful image in many ways.

It is often said that owners and their pets look alike. I love how the mustache and the feathers around the eyes of the owl are so similar! The soft B&W really put the emphasis on the lovely moment you captured.

Keep up the Orton's. I find my self applying the effect to many of my images.

This image shows the love the man has for the bird, and the gentleness with which he treats the bird. It evokes feelings of love and tenderness. Well done.

Cheryl, this is really sweet - both as an image and as a statement about the handler. Nicely done on all fronts. I want an owl to cuddle! BTW, I have always thought that this connection with the wildlife we photograph adds a wonderful dimension to our images.
