    Rhys:

The high key effect is interesting, very graphic art feeling. I do very much miss the line of the breast to give some sense of fullness to the bird.

MIght be interesting to see a 'straight' rendition of this to compare.

    Cheers

Rhys - excellent high key shot here. I'm thinking that the composition is a bit weak though. Maybe crop out some negative space on the left side of the frame to get a head and shoulders portrait? Lovely sharpness and thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on your trip to Antarctica. This is a lovely portrait, although I wish I could see it in a larger version since it's a little difficult to see the details in the whites and blacks at this smaller size.

With this particular crop, I am wishing the bird weren't quite so centered. I love the high key effect and the color combination. It's quite striking.

Thats a good bird that youve got there mate and you could have changed a few things to make this better. The high is good but with a lot of whites around its a little out of place. I probably would have cropped this vertically to include more of the bird and some changes in PP to bring out the details on the white. What do you think :)

I'm sure there are many, many ways to handle this, but this is one version going on in my head...

The main thing is to play with the chest area. I probably went overboard, but I think
    you get what I'm after.

I think Doug's repost makes an already stunning image even better! Love the impact of this image and the detail. So jealous of your trip!

    Superbly done.

Thank you all for the thoughtful C/C. I have been playing around with the image as well and Doug's repost seems to hit it on the head for me. The original post was the full image so there isn't any room in this one for more of the bird. I look forward to your thoughts on some future images as they come in future days.
