    Default Introduction

    Hi guys and gals,

Joined to keep up with a lot of the stuff being posted on this site, really good information and plenty of great articles. None the less. I am Cody Conway, Chemical Analyst, Snake Breeder, and wildlife photographer. I have been very fortunate to pursue my photography all over the Americas with trips already lined up for May (Ecuador) and December (Costa Rica), with a possible side trip in September to ASA Wright Center in Tobago. I was raised a Nikon fan boy, but made the switch fully to canon back in 2011. My current line up for wildlife photography is a Canon 7D, 500 F4 IS L, 300 F4 IS L and 1.4x TC. I use a Canon 5D MK II for mainly landscape and reptile work, but also use it as of lately for bird photography when I can get away without a cropped sensor. The rest of my line up includes a 17-40 F4 L, 100 F2.8 USM, 50mm F1.4 USM, and 70-200 F4 L USM. And I fully enjoy utilizing .raw!

Should mention I am 26 :-) Not the average age for a bird photographer! I get plenty of odd looks in the field walking around high island pointing out stuff to tour groups during migration. And thanks for the Welcome Christopher, I hope to be heavily involved in this forum as I continue to push my photography forward.

    Hey Cody, welcome to BPN.

Interested in seeing some of your reptile work as well! I understand the looks you get as a young-un in the field of birders. I'm 27. Still don't have $$ for the 500 though, so lucky you on that count!
I hope you decide to come to Asa Wright in September - it's just a couple hours drive from where I live. Looking forward to seeing your images.

Thanks Faraaz! I have friends who returned from Trinidad and Tobago back in November and they were nothing but boastful about it and the good time they had. I have been drooling over the 500 F4 IS for a long time now. But could not justify the purchase just shooting for fun when my 300 F4 with 1.4x TC gave me fantastic results. However, after a good while of savings and working longer hours at the plant. I was able to come across a nice deal at the right time and jump on it. No looking back now! I have websites that show a lot of my reptiles stuff - but I'm still unsure with the rules regarding posting links. So I will have to wait and I'll post more on this site as I can.

Welcome aboard, Cody. I actually started bird photography at 18...but "several" years have passed since them. :) Looking forward to seeing some of your images.

Hmmm a snake breeder. Now that's a new one for me! Looking forward to viewing your reptile pics.

Thanks marina. Snake breeding is an exciting journey with all the morphs that are out there to paint snakes with. We are currently facing a lot of pressure from the government with the Florida issues in Burmese and the tragedy that happened a few years back where someone's pet Burmese escaped and killed a 2 year old I believe. I'm all about making sure responsible ownership and breeding is put forward in the community to help show these instances are very rare and far between.

Good to know. Hopefully there is a good age representative here. I run into mid 20 year old birders on occasion down in the rio grande and at high Island I ran into a couple last year I met in Panama the November prior.
