Default Another bad day for the Pigeons

The following photo was captured yesterday (on Jan 27th) at a grain elevator in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. I photographed something similar last year at the same location, and I'm happy that I got the action capture of the Prairie Falcon again this year.

    Canon EOS 7D | Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS + Kenko 1.4x Teleplus PRO 300 DGX + Canon Extender EF 1.4x II
Av mode (accidentally set, but it still turned out pretty well), Evaluative Metering +1 stop: 1/2000 sec., f/5.6, ISO 640

    All C&Cs are welcome!

    Thanks,
    Raymond

Well-captured action, and the trail of feathers is excellent. I would like more of a crop, but I suspect that might degrade the image quality of the birds to a poor level. Color of the sky and the contrasting falcon in particular is great. Well exposed for detail on the bird(s) with the +1 stop.

Thanks! Just a note that this is as far as I will probably go in terms of cropping (although there's still some slight leeway).

Amazing moment captured , the flowing feathers behind the bird gives more impact to the action

Nice job catching the action. The streaming feathers off the pigeon add to the shot. Well done

Good idea that you included the trail of feathers behind the bird. I witnessed and photographed a similar story at Niagara Falls in 2009. They start to pluck the feathers while still in the air.
    Great action shot, Raymond.

    Raymond,

This is a great storytelling image, and that's what photography is all about!

Would be nice to have a tighter crop, but like you said, that may reduce the IQ a bit.

Hi Raymond, well done for capturing this fast flyer in action. The IQ is just holding up, and the trailing feathers puts this up a notch.

Well timed image Raymond! I like the trailing feathers, prey and mouthful of feathers.
