Wow, that new 500 is reet. Sharp as a tack. 1/40 ss is amazing. Not much of a critique. I personally would off set it a bit. To centered for me but I am no expert.

Really cool looking bird. I would tone down some of the highlights on the perch and in the BG, but you have a beutiful capture here.

Beautiful image. Well exposed, the blacks and the detail in them look just right and the red is right on. It looks likem the perch is a little bright in spots and I think I add a little space to the right to give a little more room for the bird to look into. Overall, it's a wonderfull image.

Costa Rica has no shortage of spectacular birds, and you've captured this Tanager very nicely. Easy to blow the reds on one like this, but you've gotten the reds and the blacks just about right (maybe the tiniest loss of red detail??). I agree about toning down the perch. Comp works for me.

Beautiful bird, man, Costa Rica has a great number of forest jewels!! The pose is nice and the subject is quite sharp for the SS you had. The blacks do look good, but for me the reds are too much especially on the head. A few brighter highlts need toning down too (perch, and bright area in the BG). Finally, I do wish the perch ending was not sawed off (best to have it naturally broken off, or continuing straight across the frame)

Exposure is very nice particularly with difficult reds, very sharp detail and good eye contact with the camera, mossy perch is good too, but a slight shame about the sawn end

Exposure is very good. I would check the back of the head to see if the reds are blown out because they as such only computer. I might also add some to the right as well. All in all a very nice capture of a beautiful bird!
