Taken last year while on my tour and on Capt. James boat. I try to isolate the spoonbills against the dark mangrove BG's whenever I can. Freezing in Arches is on the way next week for some night shooting on my tour.....but then I have the Florida tours shortly after to warm up!

    Roman:

Excellent pose, open bill, dark BG.

    Perfect crop for my tastes.

I might try a version just slightly brighter, to try and lift the gloom on the legs, and brighten the whites a little, without losing the darker BG.

    Cheers

Nice flight pose. I like the open beak capture and the wing position is just perfect. Debating on some more light on the lower part of the image but works as presented.

Nice plight pose and rich colours. I would have liked the beak closed better, but it is just my personal taste with this bird.

Roman - I like the fitting title and the colors look great. I also wonder if you can bring out a little more in the lower portion.

You couldn't ask for a more dynamic pose from this fella! Like you I like the dark mangroves and find the result appealing. Beautiful image...

Love that gorgeous bird against the dark BG, Roman. I wouldn't change a thing. That bird is just glowing. Wish this were mine. That pose is something else!

Hey Roman, you've captured an excellent pose with that open mouth. The bird is aglow in that light and it stands out so well against that dark bg. A nice example where a square comp works!

Hi Roman, these guys seem to pop against any BG, and in this, the wings really show up nicely. Love the open bill, and agree, lightening the legs a touch more will work.
