Another from my recent trip to Merritt Island. It was fun, and interesting, to watch a pair of scrubjays take turns feeding and watching. One would be on the ground, looking for food, while the other was at the top of a tree, watching for predators. The one on the ground would find something, but wouldn't eat it. Instead, he would hop along and bury it - I guess for a later meal. After about 5 mins, they would switch positions.
For this image, I wanted to be at eye level with the Scrub-Jay, so I got on my belly. He didn't seem to mind me, and came to within my min focus distance a couple of times. I was lucky enough to capture this image. I only got three clicks in before he jumped away to hide his prize.
The image here is a stitch of two images that I took. He was tight in the frame, and the other image provided a bit more room to the left and top. I filled in the remaining canvas with some CAF and clone stamp tool. The head angle isn't ideal, but this is the best of the bunch that I got.
Hi Miguel - great detail and pose with the food. I agree with you on HA but your efforts paid off and nice job on the stitching. I would prefer a bit more room below but not a deal breaker.
I'm really digging the low angle and the BG here...great job. I agree with you about the HA, and I would have liked to have seen a bit more of the tail, but I find this to be a very enjoyable image to view. Looks like you were dealing with some backlighting...
Hi Miguel, getting down and dirty has created such a cool angle for this capture. Although as mentioned above, his head could have turned more towards you, he is still showing off his acorn catch nicely, and I do like that BG.
I really like the extra low angle, great getting him with acorn in his mouth. I agree with head angle comments. Great idea stitching two images for space, will definitely try it.
Very nice shot.
Excellent low shooting angle and gives the viewer a sense from the birds eye view.
I like the habitat, excellent details, and I dont mind the head angle since we can still see its eye and meal.
Very well done.
I really like this unique low angle view of this scrub jay, it sure brings us into his world. So different from the usual scrub jay images. Love the view of the acorn. Super job on your stitching. Really engaging image, Miguel.
