Default Orange-tip Butterfly on Cuckoo flower.

All shot handheld as I walked along the roadside on a beautiful summers day in the Antrim hills.

Gavin you have a good exposure on the cuckoo flower and orange tip, the image is sharp and I like the colours. I appreciate this may not have been possible for you at the time in question but I think the image would have been more impactive had been able to take the image from lower down. I note you were out walking so you may not have had a tripod with you but if you use a tripod it slows you down and makes you concentrate on composition and viewpoint. Don't forget to include the Exif data, it helps people provide a more complete/meaningful critique.
I look forward to seeing more of your images.

Thanks, Jonathon. Yeah the butterflies and flowers were down in a ditch beside the road so I had to take them all from above. I do have a tripod but when I go hill walking or up through the forests and woods I take just my camera bag and some rations, which get heavy enough after a while. I plan to use the tripod and lot more this year so will try out your suggestion.

I will leave the exif data on future shots I post.

Again thanks for taking the time comment.

Hi Gavin and welcome to the Macro forum! Jon has already made some excellent points so I won't repeat. I would add that you can post images up to 1024 pixels wide and 800 pixels high. A larger size makes it easier for us to provide meaningful comments. You might consider a vertical crop for this image - that would remove the reed stems on the right. I hope to see more of your macro work!
