Dunnock (tree sparrow)
What is known as a LBJ (little brown jobbie) but in the right light you can see what a beautiful wee bird they are.

Gavin:
A big welcome to BPN! Yes, it is easy to be seduced by the big and colorful birds, but there is beauty in the subtle shades and details of even LBJs!
The light here has helped bring out the details here. Nice look back pose. Good catchlight.
I wish the head was entirely against the blue, as it does tend to blend into the browns in the background.
Be sure to include your shooting info, camera/lens and settings, and any post processing as it really helps us critique and understand the image.
It also is easier if you post the image at the allowed limits of 1024 H and 800 V, so we can see it better.
And finally, be sure to make comments on other folks images, it helps with our sense of community, and also helps train your eye!
Again, welcome.
Cheers
Randy

Many thanks for all the hints and tips, Randy. I'll be sure to add the exif data of my shots and any pp that takes place.
I'm still wet behind the ears when it comes to critiquing other enthusiasts photographs but I'm willing to learn and will add any comments that I feel are relevant. I also look forward to having my photographs critiqued as I have a lot to learn about photography.
Again, thanks. Much appreciated.
Gavin.

A member has kindly pointed out to me that I used the wrong name in the brackets, tree sparrow. The tree sparrow is a whole different species. I was meant to use the name hedge sparrow, sorry I'm easily distracted. Hedge sparrow is the old name of the Dunnock. Sorry for any confusion.

Welcome aboard, Gavin, and thank you for posting!!! I have a feeling you could find one thing you like about most any image. That might be a good place to start after you read a few other comments.
You have nice focus on your bird here with a lot of details. The background (BG) is a little distracting but overall I think you did well with your composition.
Looking forward to more.

Thanks, Marina. Yeah that's the trouble with Dunnocks. Very shy and easily spooked wee birds who spend most their time on the ground and in hedgerows so they can be tricky chaps to get a good photograph of with a clear background. Suppose that's half the fun of photographing birds out in the woods and forests.
