    Default My first Snowy Owl Vertical

    Nikon D600 80-400mmvr @ 400mm, Iso640, f/7.1, 1/250, Ev +1.33 vertical DX mode wb incandecent, tripod, clear skies late evening. No crop, Cs5 shadow/ highlghts, levels, curves, Hue/saturation- lowered blue saturation, selective color, smart sharpen. This is the same owl from my previous post. Thanks for looking and the nice comments and suggestions.

    Craig, the white balance looks much nicer in this one - good job with that. I like the vertical image, and I think there are several crop options for this one but I like the capture and hope you have some more!

    Stunning subject and environment. The vertical presentation here works well but you do have options. I would maybe crop a chunk off of top and a little from the right and see how you like it. This would make your owl a little more powerful in the frame. Really live the light and design of your perch.

    I agree with Kerry and Marina. I like the first photo you posted as the owl is more prominent in the frame, but think playing around with a vertical crop with the owl more prominent would be great too.

    Craig, stunning picture of a beautiful creature. I kind of like the horizontal crop you posted earlier as it shows the owl off well against the blue space of the lake on the right and makes the distracting stump on the left corner less prominent.

    Beautiful shot Craig. A small crop from the bottom and right hand side of the frame would emphasise the presence of the owl. Lovely sharpness and detail!
