Another from this weekend's IPT/Creative Adventure at Barnegat Jetty in New Jersey. It was tough getting the ducks to cooperate on HA but this one worked with the two. Ideally I would have preferred in the in focus one to be to the right but they wouldn't cooperate on that either.

HH from the jetty, cropped to pano, levels, curves, selective color, dodging and burning adjustments, sharpened in CS6.
Lovely shot of the left hand drake. I wouldn't have minded the RH duck being OOF if he were clearly subordinate to the image, but since he takes up half the frame, it doesn't completely work for me. Exposure looks good on these hard-to-expose birds.
I like the in focus duck. Perfect exposure, nice HA. It came to my mind what if you would try to frame the left had side duck only, by eliminating the OOF one.
Excellent exposure and detail and great job getting the matching postures and head angles!
I like the juxtaposition of the birds as is but ideally, would like a tiny bit more separation between them.
Would also like just a bit more room on the left and right if you have it.
I'm looking forward to my first visit to Barnegat Jetty in a couple of weeks and would be happy to come home with one like this!
Hi Rachel, looks like you had fun there with these Harlequins, and love the symmetrical poses. The near duck is sharp with lots of detail, and the colours look good. I agree with a touch more space behind the left hand duck.
Even if you had traded some ss for DOF, I dont believe the other one would have been in full focus. What I do sometimes, if you have oodles of time is place my focus point between the subjects - in that way, your DOF is being 'spread' equally both ways.
Thanks all for the comments and suggestions. I guess I should have said that I purposely designed the image with one in focus and one oof. It might not be to everyone's taste.
Thanks again and I have plenty more with single drakes in focus and a few with multiple ducks in focus,
Rachel
Very nice shot.
Great poses on both ducks, nice details on the focused one, and exposed well.
I like the oof duck in the frame, but do agree if there was more seperation it would have worked out better.
Still a great shot. One I would like to have in my files.
Well done.
