I became a BPN member a few weeks ago now so I thought it about time I introduced myself.
I am from Lincoln in the UK and have been photographing wildlife for a few years now, although most of that time I haven’t really had a clue what I was doing. A couple of years ago I came across the birds as art blog and found it a great place to help me improve my photography and this was further helped when I purchased the brilliant digital basics, hopefully these things have helped me improve, thanks to Artie Morris for that, although I still have a lot to learn. Through BAA I became aware of this site and have been viewing it without participation for a couple of years now.
I decided to become a BPN member as that seemed the best way to progress further with my photography plus there seems to be a great community to this site. I have critiqued some photos but do feel a little awkward because the standard in generally so good and I don’t really feel that qualified to make a judgement, hopefully that will improve given time.
Welcome Nick,
I look forward to seeing some of your posts from the local area. I was stationed at Nocton back in the late 80's before I got into photography and often wonder what kind of pics I could've gotten with the different birds and animals that live in the area.
Hi Nick and a big late welcome to BPN. So glad you are beginning to participate. Everybody sees something differeny in an image so please don't feel as though you have nothing to contribute. If if you find one thing about an image that you like, you can share why. The more you become involved, the more comfortable you will feel Nd the more you will learn.
Welcome to BPN, Nick! No need to feel shy about posting critiques. I know the people here appreciate any and all critiques, whether from beginners or experts. It's also one of the best ways to learn how to improve your photography because you don't have the same emotional attachment to someone else's images as you may have to your own. Looking forward to your continued participation!
Nice looking owl, I think he saw you . As others have noted, feel free to contribute your thoughts on any and all images. The site has plenty of technical comments but can always use more "gut" reaction comments. Looking at your website, I think your contributions will be fine.
Thank you all for your encouraging comments. I have received critique from others on my photos pointing out things I hadn’t considered, that’s when you realise how much you have to learn, but this seems to be the best place to do exactly that. Better be off as I’ve got some critiquing to do
