    Default Relentless Enemies

    Attached Images Attached Images

Image captured at Duba Plains home of the famous ducumentary "Relentless Enemies" By Dereck & Beverly Joubert. Okavango Delta, Botswana.

Light was already quite harsh, this all happened at about 11am so not the greatest lighting conditions. Image is pretty much FF, was wishing for a bit more space but not enough time to change lenses.

Fantastic drama and action! I'd be tempted to argue that the image has so much impact that the 'tightness' really helps by containing the action.

    Thanks for sharing,

Hi Brendon - fantastic action, well captured. Tightness doesn't bother me here. This really portrays the effort of the lion to hold in with the claws digging in and the muscles showing. Only slight thing for me is that the water splash seems slightly oversharpened.

Hi Brendon, I don't think there is an issue with use/copyright in the title, but it is an amazing book and I think this image depicts the whole essence of Duba.

I agree on your own observations about wishing for more space, however you nailed the action which is key, however you will have a better opportunities than the rest of us, so will look out for the next in the series. The light is harsh and you again have controlled it well, great that you were so close! The lioness position, the front leg and claws out, the side on profile and the expression of the Buffalo conveying the 'end is nigh' all works extremely well and the viewer is left in no doubt of the life & death struggle of everyday life in the bush. IMHO one of your best!

Was this from Silver Eye's pride or the other group, or have they joined forces, as the cubs were looking very pitiful when I was there, as there had not been any kills for many days?

An amazing image. I think the fact that you captured enough room in the image for the virtual legs of the buffalo is remarkable. I am also looking forward to the following images of this encounter.

Cracking action, harsh light well controlled. Must've been a sight to be this close!
I agree on the splashes being a tad crisp.
