    Default Black Vulture

Canon 5D Mark III, Canon EF400mm f5.6L + Kenko 1.4x TC (560 mm focal length)
Aperture Priority, Evaluative Metering, f8, 1/320 sec, ISO 640

I came across this Black Vuture with his lunch in the Katy Prairie while heading home from a park. I took the photo from my car. This was the first time I used a teleconverter (Kenko 1.4x on my Canon 400mm f5.6L). The combination worked, autofocus was fine but there was significant vignetting.

I cropped down significantly - about 85% - to only include the bird and his meal. Processed the Raw file in DPP, then processed in CS5 with Color Efex Pro 4 (selective detail extractor on the dark neck feathers) and neat image noise reduction on everything except the bird. Finally harpened the eye a bit. I welcome all comments.

    Hi Barry-

You have a nice moment captured here and I like the environmental portrait feel.

I do have to say that the TC may have caused quite a bit IQ loss.
