Hi Carole, vertical is the way to go on this, but personally I find it too tight, there is not enough space I feel for the subject to breathe. I like the colours and angled front paw with the mouth slightly open. Watch your amount of sharpening, it's a little too crisp I think and also did you apply any NR or 'blur' to the BKG of the image? Next time I might suggest dropping the ISO to 400 and the DOF to f/5.6. I think easing off on the sharpening and a bit more room all round would move this image up a notch.

    Hi Carole,
like the previous one , i like the processing with maybe a tad reduced sharpening.I think it looks good and natural that not only the main subject is looking sharp, like wise the area on the same focal plane as the subject, which i find is sometimes not there in other images presented here.

Good colors and tonality , well done.

If there is room i would go for slightly different crop, losing a bit on LHS and adding to RHS, because the look of the subject goes out of the frame .

    Nice one

Lovely image Carole, agree on the over sharpening it looks a tad crunchie, the tight crop is not too bad for me, however i wouldnt be opposed to a little more space, great colours, well exposed and like the paw up, great image.

    magnificent specimen
    lovely details
    ditto oversharpening
ditto tightness (it only really needs a hint more on our LHS and the bottom for my taste)
it might be an illusion or just my eyes, but I feel it might need a very slight CW rotation as presented...

Hi Carole - the vertical definitely is the way to go. Nice colors and pov. I agree it is still a tiny bit tight below and I'd like to see more room to the rhs than lhs. Looks like you had a great sighting with this majestic male and time to work the subject a bit.

I love the colors and the portrait crop. A tad over sharpened and I would like to see less space on the left and more on the right. Nice image!

    Hey Carole,
My favorite of the series as I like them tight. Agree with Dumay above and a hint more room on the bottom for me as well......although not much for my tastes!
