Just realized I have hit the 12,000 post milestone! It has been quite the ride here as both mod and member!!! I can't stress enough how much you get out of bpn when you participate in commenting.....even if you don't feel qualified! I hope to participate a bit more in 2013 as my schedule allows!

    Congrats on the milestone Roman.

Nice glint in the eye and interesting body position. Head and antler position shows him off well.

    Please ID the species.

    Big congrats Oh Seismic One!

Where I come from, they call these pronghorn antelope, but perhaps its a local thing (NJ doesn't have too many pronghorns zipping about I suspect)

    Cheers

Thanks all.....from wiki: The pronghorn (Antilocapra americana) is a species of artiodactyl mammal endemic to interior western and central North America. Though not an antelope, it is often known colloquially in North America as the prong buck, pronghorn antelope, or simply antelope,......so none in NJ.....I'll go with just pronghorn :)

Hi Roman - congrats on the milestone and I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment of your post. Nice pronghorn in nice light and techs work well.

Nice shot of this rut-ready buck Roman. Like the pose with the raised leg and the changing leaves of the cottonwood in the BG.

Hi Roman, congratulation on the milestone, but also think about how much people have benefited from your help and advice within those 12k posts, as it's not always just about posting an image.

I really like the posture & stance of the subject, it also shows how athletic & muscular these animals are. Good form & striation, and as Robert mentioned, I like the catchlight in the eye too. Not sure if I like the 'larch (?) in the BKG as I prefer the more sombre tones within the image, just personal preference. Techs look good and the light was on your side allowing a good DOF/SS too. Overall a nice portrait.

I can't stress enough how much you get out of bpn when you participate in commenting.....even if you don't feel qualified!
I second that Roman, along with Rachel.

I/We look forward to your participation in 2013 as and when time allows.

    Hi Roman,
first congrats to your milestone of posts.

Like the image as presented , nice portrait shot with good posture of the subject.
    Good overall tonality.

If there is something , i think i would like to see a tad more sharpening on the subject and reduce the sat of the Larch? , to make the BG a bit more uniform looking.

Congrats on 12K, Roman! I for one have learnt A LOT from you over the last couple of years...and would love for you to participate as much as possible in 2013

Nice profile of this sheep/buck/thing .
To me the head/face looks uncharacteristically soft (given f11 I must assume it's a sharpening post-downsizing issue?)...

Great light and portrait crop. I would like to see more sharpening on the Prong Horn (I think) and more blurring on the BG to smooth it a bit more. Congrats on the milestone...Its a big one!

Huge congratulations on this milestone Roman. Lovely image of the pronghorn. Thoroughly agree about your thoughts on BPN. I have learned so much since I first joined BPN five years ago and the learning never stops on this site.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work in 2013. I hope you have a great year.
